Activities for the Summer School Holidays 2024/25

School’s out, it’s time for some fun! Collie has an exciting program of events in store for families looking to entertain the kids these holidays.

Summer Movie Series

Every year Collie businesses sponsor the summer movie series. Take snacks, blankets and chairs and enjoy the family-friendly entertainment!

Dates: Various dates throughout December 2024 and January 2025

Collie Public Library

School holiday activities for children. To reserve a place at any event please book online.
– Christmas Stocking Design Workshop: Dec 18
– Christmas Lolly Jar Design: Dec 19
– Christmas Cookie Decorating: Dec 23

Cost: FREE

Outback Horse Trails

Half and Full day camps are available for children of all ages. These camps are to entertain children with a full or half day of horse-riding activities for new and experienced riders.

Cost: Full day: $250 on Dec 20 and Jan 21  /  Half day: $120 on Dec 17, Jan 8 and Jan 13

Old Railway Station & Museum

Collie Railway Station Museum and Cafe with Model Railway and Thomas the Tank Engine.

Cost: $2 per person for entry
Opening Times: Friday 10:00am – 2.30pm  /  Saturday 10:00am – 2.30pm

Collie Visitors Centre

Come down and enjoy our holiday activities! Kids activity table, old trains and machinery, and a replica mine experience!

Location: 156 Throssell Street, Collie


Replica Underground Coal Mine Experience

The mine experience includes a scavenger hunt looking mice and spiders, a mine blast, and interesting stories about Collie’s mining history.

Cost: Adults $15, Children (5 – 16 years) $5, Children under 5 – Free, Seniors $12, Family Pass (2 adults and up to 3 children)  $30

Coalfields Museum

There’s lots to see at the museum! A scavenger hunt is available for the kids where they check off things throughout the experience as well!

Cost: Adult [17+ years]: $5; Child [4–16 years]: $2.50; Under 4 years of age: Free; Student group [per student]: $1.50

Nearer to Nature – Wellington Discovery Forest Centre

The Wellington Discovery Forest Centre will be open on select days this summer, subject to weather conditions.

Come enjoy the forest trails and the cool indoor centre and undercover area. Take a look at our taxidermy display, investigate the touch table and make some craft. All FREE.

Planned days are

  • Thursday 9 January 9am – 2pm
  • Friday 10 January 9am – 2pm
  • Tuesday 28 January 9am – 2pm
  • Wednesday 29 January 9am – 2pm

Please note, for your safety if there is an extreme weather warning in place, the centre will remain closed.

Location: Wellington Discovery Forest is located on Wellington Forest Road about 1.1km down from Pile Road or 3.5km up from Wellington Mill Road.


Roche Park

Court use is available for basketball and skating. Skate hire is included.
There is also an indoor playroom with a bouncy castle and soft play for children 1-5.

Only $2 entry per child.
Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm
Friday: 9am-12pm
Weekends: Closed
