Best mountain biking trails in Collie

Calling all adrenaline junkies! If mountain biking through the forest on a variety of terrains is your thing, then you need to check out the Wambenger MTB trails in Collie. With the completion of a 50 kilometre single track for mountain biking in Wellington National Park, Collie is now the home of WA’s largest network of mountain bike trails.

Riders will now have access to over 170km of trails within the Wambenger Trails Network. Explore the hidden trails that wind through the forests, curve along rivers, ascend and drop through the slopes of the region.

 

The Munda Biddi Trail

Not for the faint of heart, the Munda Biddi Trail stretches over 1000km from Mundaring to Albany, with some of it passing through Collie. This trail will take you through magnificent bushland and towering forests for an epic adventure that will delight mountain biking enthusiasts.

Ride into Wellington National Park, marvel at the Jarrah forests surrounding you and spot native wildflowers. This stretch of the Munda Biddi is a pleasure to ride with the scenic landscape stretching out before you. Follow the Jabitj Trail to Honeymoon Pool and take a moment to relax in the peaceful surroundings.

Wellington National Park Mountain Bike Trail

The Wellington Mountain Mike trails are part of the Wambenger Trails network, a collective trail network that include walks, cycle and drive trails in the Collie region. These trails will offer you a varying range of biking experiences from easy countryside rides to steep descents that will challenge an experienced cyclist.

Sika Trail: This cycle trail (which is also a shared walk trail) links Potters Gorge to the Kiosk and provides a loop return for riders on Van Dam. This is an easy, dual direction cross-country trail that winds through the forest.

Jabitj Trail: Jabitj is a Noongar word that means ‘running water’. This trail follows the Collie River between Honeymoon Pool and the Kiosk and provides a loop return to the carpark for all descending mountain bike trails.

Van Dam Trail: This trail winds its way high in the forest then follows a fun, fast-flowing descent to the Sika Trail and Potters Gorge. It has some small rocky features to test your skills along the way.

Lichen Trail: A cross-country climb with some tight, spectacular switchbacks, creek crossings, and lichen and moss-covered boulders.

Big Dipper Trail:  This is a fun little trail that will thrill those who love rollercoasters! Starting with a climb, you’re then rewarded with berms and rollers all the way down.

Whip’n Hollow Trail: A challenging trail with exciting and tight turns that will get you all the way down to the river.

Pipe’n Hot Trail:  A trail that will descent to the river, you will pass some rock gardens and double rollers before attempting to cross a very steep gully.

Dam It Trail: This trail will take you cross-country across some technical rock gardens before being rewarded with a stunning view of the Wellington Dam Mural.

Firetail Trail: A cross-country descending trail with technical rock gardens and some interesting options for the more game riders.

Wam Bam Trail: A trail with abundant cross-country challenges, starting with a series of rock gardens, step-downs and rock rollers, then culminating with a large, steep rocky step-down.

Black Glove Trail:  A trail for experienced riders, this is a technical cross-country trail that will challenge you with its rocky terrain. Expect climbs, tight switchbacks and jump features on the way to the river.

 

Arklow Trail Network

As part of the Wambenger Trails, the Arklow Trail Network boasts over 35km of trails to explore with some interesting trails like Pet Cemetery Trail and Dead Cats Trail.

Starting from Ray’s Trail Carpark just past Harris River Estate Winery, head off on a cycling adventure in the Jarrah forest. Designed for beginners and pro cyclists, there are sections that will suit any cyclist.

Arlow Adaptive: A 9.2 km loop that is not only suitable for families, but also for people using hand cycles. This trail is a mix of modern flow trail and old forestry tracks.

Railway Rise: If you’re looking to test those glutes, take this 2.5km trail climb to reach the Jarrah forest.

Jarrah Jaunt: Take this trail for a great 2.7km descent into the Arklow network

Pet Cemetery: Expect some climbs on this trail, this also connects the longer green loop back to Arklow Adaptive.

Dead Cats Trail: One of the more popular trails, Dead Cats Trail is flowing, fun, and suitable for beginners and pros alike

Ray’s Trail: Ray’s is a fun single track to ride with flowing bermed sections with small jumps, technical short climbs and log crossings.

220 Trail: A 6.2km blue trail, this is a fantastic trail that is built to ride fast, with challenging sections to navigate.

 

Mount Lennard Trails

With over 40 kilometres of trails to explore, the Mount Lennard Mountain Bike Trail will suit mountain bikers of all levels. Expect to see trails of varying difficulties across stunning landscapes, jarrah forests and granite outcrops through the lower Collie River Valley.

Also known as Pile Road by those in the know, there are 7 trails within this trail network that offer fun challenges of climbs and descents. There are a few jumps to test your skills out on as well for the thrill seeker in you. Try out the Grizzly Trail, one of the more popular trails that also comes with a Top Trail rating.

 

Collie Wagyl Biddi Trails

Keen to try different trails with varying difficulty? Trails are graded according to their difficulty, so you choose a trail that matches your fitness, ability and equipment. The newest of the Collie MTB Trails the Collie Wagyl Biddi starts at Soldier’s Park and consists of five trails that are suitable for riders of all levels and hand bikes.

Wiilman Trail: Novice riders will love this trail, an easy 3.2km bike trail that lets you leisurely cruise the banks of the Collie River, there’s plenty to see on this trail in the Collie River Valley.

Sprocket’s Rocket: Aptly named, this fast little track will put a grin on any biker’s face. Just 800m long, this trail has climbs and descends that makes it a fun track to explore.

Rocky Horror: Not a horror to ride at all, this trail is named for the rock formations you will come across when traversing this trail!

Drop Dead Fred: Named after the bag of bones found during construction, this is a moderate 1.6km and the second of three moderate micro-loops.

Marri Meander: Experienced riders will be kept busy flying over rocks and dancing through trees on the Marri Meander trail, so be sure you are experienced enough to take on this trail.

Kylie – Collie Loop:  This is a relatively easy trail that stretches 10 kilometres. Expect a fun mountain bike trail that flows through Westralia Conservation Park, with a 300 metre technical moderate alternate line offering riders the chance to test their descending skills.

 

Collie Trail Town

We’re known as a WA Trail Town for a reason! Collie is a world-class Adventure Trail town boasting a veritable outdoor playground for travellers and campers alike.

Power up and wind your way through pristine forests as you hike or bike Collie’s bush tracks and trails, white-water raft through spectacular river valleys and navigate blue lakes by canoe or kayak.

Just a two-hour drive south from Perth, nestled in the heart of the Darling Ranges, Collie is a thriving country town that’s one of several jumping-off points for the region’s 170-kilometre network of trails.
