134 Throssell Street
In February 1959, seven artists came together to create the Antipodean group. They showcased their works in an exhibition titled “Antipodeans” at the Victorian Artists’ Society from August 4 to 15, 1959. Art historian Bernard Smith wrote the Antipodean Manifesto, which was printed in the exhibition’s catalogue and signed by Smith and each of the artists. The manifesto highlighted paintings, drawings, prints, and ceramics by Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, David Boyd, John Brack, Robert Dickerson, John Perceval, and Clifton Pugh, all members of the Antipodean group.
The exhibition will be on display at the Collie Art Gallery from Saturday 25th May until Sunday 23rd June.
Exhibition opening Saturday 25th May 2pm – 4pm
