Alerts and Warnings

Bush Fires

  • Bushfires can ignite unexpectedly, especially during the hotter months, from November to February.
  • Before travelling, check the latest bushfire warnings and updates through the Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES), which oversees fire and emergency services in Western Australia, or visit Emergency WA for up-to-date information.

Camp Fires

  • For information on fire burning periods, visit the Emergency Services page on the Shire of Collie website.
  • General prohibited burning period is from December to March. For specific dates, visit the Shire of Collie website.
  • General restricted burning period is from April – May and November and permits are required. For specific dates, visit the Shire of Collie website.
  • Always check current campfire conditions beforehand on the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions website.
  • Contact the Parks and Wildlife Service Collie office at (08) 9735 1988 for more information.

Munda Biddi and Bibulmun Track Realignments

  • For information on realignments and diversions, please visit the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Park Alerts Website.
  • For your safety, adhere to and follow all signage and instructions. 

Glen Mervyn Dam

  • For information on the opening and closure of Glen Mervyn Dam, please contact the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup.

Wellington National Park

Wellington Dam Road Bridge Closure

  • The causeway/bridge at the base of Wellington Dam is currently closed to all TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS due to structural issues. Please follow the diversion signage.
  • Mural Access – To view the mural from the top lookout, please access the Park via Coalfields Highway and Wellington Dam Road.  Access is NOT available from Falcon Road.
  • Walkers seeking to complete the Wellington Spur Trail and Wiilman Bilya loop trail can access the walking bridge over the dam wall between the hours of 9am and 5pm daily (including weekends, public holidays and school holidays).

River Road

  • River Road within Wellington National Park is being widened from one lane to two between the Collie River and Pile Rd. Works are commencing on Monday 6 January 2025 and are programmed to finish on Monday 17 March 2025. During this time the road will be closed to public traffic, there will be no access to Pile Road from Honeymoon Pool via River Road.
