Morning:
Get a good breakfast in you at some of our favourite cafes in Collie like The Wagon, or Barn-zee’s Burgers & Baristas, before heading out onto the trails for an outdoor adventure in Collie.
It’s a good idea to hit the tracks in the morning before it starts to heat up in the afternoon. Spend the morning riding, pick from relatively easy trails or adrenaline pumping ones!
Some of our favourite trails in Collie:
Kylie Trail: This is an easy mountain bike trail that goes on for 10 kilometres, with a fun alternate line for riders to test their skills at descending!
Wagyl Biddi Trails: Show off your skills at the Wagyl Biddi that is right in town! Discover over 6kms of trails that range from adventurous, calm, and downright fun trails. If you’re looking for technical trails, there’s the Dropped Pye Zone that boasts a technical skills area with jumps, rocks, descents, ladder drops, berms and balance beams.
Munda Biddi: For long-distance adventurers, Collie is a key stop on the Munda Biddi Trail, one of the world’s great off-road cycling routes.
Afternoon:
Summer in Collie means water play, and lots of it. With tranquil rivers, hidden pools and bright blue lakes galore, Collie is the ultimate destination to cool off in. Spend the afternoon cooling down at the amazing swimming spots in Collie:
Lake Kepwari: This epic lake offers wide open water ideal for boating, water-skiing or kayaking, with lakeside camping for those long summer days that stretch into starlit nights.
Black Diamond Lake: For a surreal splash, head out to Black Diamond Lake. Its bright turquoise water draws in the Instagrammers and lovers of aqua blue water alike. Spend the day floating out to the middle of the lake! Note: There are no toilets or bins on site, so make sure you’re prepared, and take your rubbish with you when you leave, so the lake stays pristine!
Honeymoon Pool: A local favourite and it’s not hard to see why! With it’s shaded, tree-lined swimming hole on the Collie River, families often gather here for floating and paddling fun!
Minningup Pool: Looking for a water hole that’s close to town and easy to get to? Try Minningup Pool for quieter corners of the Collie River to explore! The whole area has recently been revitalised with upgrades to the lawn and picnic areas, making it a wonderful place to spend the day.
Local Eats, Cool Treats and Family Streets
When the sun is high and you’ve had your swim or ride, Collie’s town centre is ready to serve up good coffee, cold drinks and a yummy lunch.
- Grab brunch at a local café like Kiosk at the Dam, tasty pub classics at The Vic Hotel, The Crown Hotel and The Federal Hotel, or refuel with a smoothie from Whisk Nutrition.
- For warm afternoons, stroll through Central Park and cool off at the water playground, before tucking in to a picnic on the manicured grounds.
- Head indoors to the Coalfields Museum and Replica Underground Mine to get a peek into Collie’s coal-mining past and experience what life was like for the miners underground!
Evening:
As the day starts to cool off as we move into the evening, grab a picnic blanket or a chair and gather with the community for Collie’s summer movie series!
