The Collie Court House isn’t just a stately old building, it’s a time capsule of the town’s early justice system and government presence. Built in 1913, in Federation Free Style architecture, this beautiful single story red brick structure clad with Marseilles tiles and arched entrance stands proudly in the heart of town, representing the rapid growth and civic pride of Collie’s early 20th-century coal era.
The street facade is adorned with an embossed coat of arms flanked by decorated arches leading to the entry porch. The building remains in excellent condition and is recognised for its historical significance by the Heritage Council of WA. It still remains in use today and is one of only a few pre‑1930 courthouses still operating.
Positioned on the Collie Rail to River Heritage Trail, the Court House is a key stop along the 2.8 km self‑guided heritage walk that connects Collie’s rail precinct to the sacred Collie River. Whether you’re walking, cycling or just soaking up history – it’s a must-see.
