How to travel to Collie River Valley
Collie, Western Australia, is an easy and scenic drive from Perth and regional centres in the South West.
Whether you’re travelling by car, public transport, or arriving by air, here’s how you can get to Collie easily.
Travel by Car
From Perth
Collie is approximately 2 hours 10 minutes (200km) south of Perth. Take the Kwinana Freeway south, continue onto Forrest Highway, then Wilman Wadandi Highway. Turn onto Raymond Road towards the South Western Highway. Follow the signs to Collie via Coalfields Highway.
Alternatively, take the scenic South West Highway through Armadale, Byford, Serpentine, and the quaint country towns of Pinjarra, Waroona, Yarloop, Harvey and Brunswick Junction before joining the Coalfields Highway through to Collie. Travelling time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.
From Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River
- From Bunbury: A 40-minute drive (60km) via South Western Highway and Coalfields Highway.
- From Busselton: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes (105km). Take Bussell Highway and Wilman Wadandi Highway towards Bunbury, then follow the Bunbury directions.
- From Margaret River: Just under 2 hours (150km). Take Bussell Highway and Wilman Wadandi Highway to Bunbury and continue via South Western Highway and Coalfields Highway.
From Ferguson Valley, Donnybrook, Balingup, Boyup Brook and Bridgetown
- From Ferguson Valley: A 35-minute drive (50km). Travel along Ferguson Road, turn left onto Pile Road then continue onto Mungalup Road towards Collie.
- From Donnybrook: Approximately 35 minutes (50km). Take Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road, then turn onto Mumballup Road, following signs to Collie.
- From Balingup: Around 50 minutes (62km). Travel via South Western Highway then turn right onto Grimwade Road, turn left onto Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road and then turn right onto continue on Mumballup Road.
- From Boyup Brook: A 45 minute drive (68km). Head out onto Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road and then turn right onto Mumballup Road.
- From Bridgetown: A 1 hour drive (97km). Head to Boyup Brook on the Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road, then follow Boyup Brook directions.
From Albany
Collie is 3 hours 15 minutes (306km) north of Albany. Take Albany Highway towards Arthur River, then turn left onto the Coalfields Road and follow the signs to Collie.

From the Airport
Via Perth Airport
If you’re flying into Perth Airport, you can hire a car and follow the driving directions from Perth. Alternatively, take the airport shuttle or a taxi to Perth CBD, then connect via public transport or a hire car.
Via Busselton-Margaret River Airport
Car hire is available at the Busselton-Margaret River Airport. Follow the driving directions from Busselton to reach Collie in approximately 1.5 hours.

Public Transport
While driving is the easiest way to reach Collie, public transport is available however like a lot of regional areas it is limited and we recommend not to rely on public transport to get around the region.

Transwa
Transwa services to Collie include:
- SW3 East Perth to Pemberton via Bunbury and Collie/Boyup Brook/Bridgetown
- SW4 Perth to Boyup Brook via Brunswick and Collie
- SW5 Bunbury to Collie
For coach service information to/from Collie, contact Transwa via 1300 662 205.
Coach services Collie arrive and depart from the Collie Visitor Centre. Luggage can be left at the Collie Visitor Centre (but not overnight).
South West Coachlines
Although there is no direct service to and from Collie with South West Coachlines, you can still travel between Perth and Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough/Yallingup and Margaret River.

Collie has one charging facility for electric vehicles, this is located at the Collie Central Park Car Park, 81 Forrest Street. The charging station caters for plug types CCS2 and CHAdeMO.
