School Holiday Programs in Collie
Collie Public Library: Tiny Art Show
Looking for a creative way to keep the kids entertained these school holidays? Head to the Collie Public Library for their Tiny Art Show – a fun, hands-on activity where kids can unleash their imagination and create a miniature masterpiece. From Tuesday 30 September to Saturday 4 October, children can drop in to design their very own miniature artwork for display in the library. Younger children (under 8) can create drawings, while older kids can choose between a drawing or a small painting.
All completed artworks will be exhibited, with voting open the following week to decide the People’s Choice winners. A panel will also select a Judge’s Choice in each age group, with prizes awarded on Saturday 11 October. No registration is needed, just walk in, get creative, and be part of the Tiny Art Show!

Parks and Wildlife’s Nearer to Nature Spring School Holiday Program
The Nearer to Nature Spring School Holiday Program is hosted by the Department of Parks and Wildlife and is a fantastic opportunity for kids to engage with nature in a hands-on way.
With events held at the Wellington Discovery Forest, this program offers a range of nature-based activities such as:
- Nature Journaling
- Meeting Deadly or Dangerous Reptiles
- A wildflower walk with Forest Explorers

Outdoor Experiences at Adventure Connections
Get your boots on and explore the beauty of the Collie River Region with the Forest Explorers on their Wildflower Walks.
Let Alison take you on a guided walk through the stunning wildflower displays that bloom in the area, showcasing the vibrant colours of nature’s canvas.

For those who enjoy being on the water, Adventure Connections offers kayak hire at the picturesque Wellington Dam. Glide across the calm waters, taking in the beautiful surroundings of the dam and its surrounding wilderness. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced kayaker, this is a great way to spend the day exploring the outdoors.
Adventure Connections is also hosting an event aimed at introducing kids and beginners to the thrill of mountain biking. Held during the school holidays, “Wheels of Wellbeing” is an introduction to Mountain Bike Riding perfect for those looking to try their hand at mountain biking.
As part of WA Bike Month, Adventure Connections along with the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure will give participants the skills they need to safely ride on the trails while enjoying the scenic views that Collie is famous for! Underground Coal Mine Experience at the Collie Visitor Centre
Take a step back in time with the Underground Coal Mine Experience at the Collie Visitor Centre. Learn about the town’s mining history and gain a fascinating insight into the coal mining operations that have shaped the region. Explore the Wildflower Display at the Collie Visitor Centre
From September 28th to October 5th, the Collie Visitor Centre will be hosting a special Wildflower Display, showcasing the region’s stunning seasonal blooms. With over 600 species of wildflowers found in the area, it’s an incredible opportunity to learn about the unique plants of the Collie River Valley. The exhibit is free to visit and perfect for all ages, so make sure you stop by and marvel at the natural beauty of the region.

Cookie and Cupcake Decorating with Tailored Grazing
For a sweet treat this school holiday, Tailored Grazing is offering a range of cookie and cupcake decorating workshops. Kids (and adults!) can unleash their creativity and decorate delicious treats, making it a perfect indoor activity for rainy days.

While you can swim at Black Diamond Lake, try not to put your head underwater as there are dangerous levels of bacteria present in the water.
