Built in 1953 with funds from the Miners Welfare Fund, the Collie Mineworkers Institute stands as a proud symbol of Collie’s coal mining heritage. This elegant hall—designed in the Post-War International style with Art Deco and Functionalist influences—has been a community cornerstone ever since. Nestled at the corner of Throssell and Patterson Streets, its distinctive façade and iconic clock tower enrich Collie’s streetscape. Over the decades, it has hosted weddings, concerts, community meetings, and the beloved annual Christmas party for local pensioners. Today, it remains a dynamic hub where the spirit of Collie’s mining past meets the warmth and energy of community life.
