Where local stories, good food and rich rail history come together.
Originally demolished in the 1970s, Collie’s historic railway station was lovingly rebuilt and reopened in 2004 by the Collie Railway Station Group to preserve its historic character. Today, it stands as a proud tribute to the town’s rich rail history – a vital part of Collie’s growth and community life, offering a relaxed blend of rail heritage, local hospitality, and country charm.
Museum
Inside, you’ll find a small but fascinating museum (Entry fee $2.50) showcasing memorabilia from Collie’s steam-era railway history, from vintage tools and photographs to station signage and communication gear.
A highlight for families and train lovers is the miniature train display, which delights children and nostalgic grown-ups alike. And tucked away out the back, you’ll spot a familiar face – Thomas the Tank Engine and friends, quietly waiting for a happy snap or two.
Station Café & Gift Shop
Need a break? The station also features a cosy café serving up Devonshire teas, freshly toasted sandwiches, hot coffee, tea, and cold drinks. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the museum or while waiting for friends and family. Sit indoors or enjoy the peaceful surroundings outside, there’s no rush here.
Whether you’re after a quick snack or a relaxed chat over a scone and tea, the café adds a warm, welcoming touch to your visit.
Don’t forget to browse the gift shop, where you’ll find a selection of souvenirs and locally made timber crafts. Perfect for taking a little piece of Collie home with you.
